6 Fun Things to Do at the Beach
Build a sandcastle: You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy building a sandcastle! If you’re going with a group make it a competition to see who can build the biggest sandcastle. Plus, when you’re done it’s just as much fun to smash them.
Work on your tan: The beach is a great place to lay back, relax, and soak up some sun. Take a break from the activity on the water and work on your tan! Just make sure to wear a good SPF to protect yourself from getting a sunburn.
Try surfing: While this is only possible at some beaches, if you have the opportunity, trying surfing is a fun activity to attempt and can only be done at the beach. If you’ve surfed before you can rent a board and go, but if not many beaches offer surf lessons for beginners.
Take a boat trip: Most beaches will allow you to take a boat out on the water; many even have rental centres. Take a canoe or kayak out on the water or rent a sailboat (if it’s windy) and spend the afternoon cruising the sparkling waters.
Enjoy some food: Most beaches will either have some restaurants or snack shacks nearby with affordable and tasty treats. Who doesn’t love ice cream during a hot day at the beach? You can also pack some fun and have a picnic lunch on the beach; just make sure to clear away your garbage to keep the beach clean and pollution free.
Go swimming: Might be the most obvious, but you haven’t lived if you’ve never swam at a beach. Whether you’re at a saltwater or freshwater beach, going for a swim is extremely fun and a great way to let go during your vacation. Rent some snorkel equipment and try and spot some fish, or bring a floaty and just relax in the cool water. The possibilities are endless.
